Harrison Central alum Jadyn Burney commits to Mississippi State

A former high school softball standout from the Coast, Harrison Central alum Jadyn Burney committing to Mississippi State today after playing the last two seasons at Chipola Community College.

At Chipola, she hit well over .300 for her career to go along with 76 runs, 13 doubles, four triples, two home runs, 32 RBI, and 41 stolen bases.

The lefty slapper has two years of eligibility left with the Bulldogs and literally came straight from the campus in Starkville to the station at WXXV to talk about a dream come true. “Yeah, I would definitely say Mississippi State is one of the schools I’ve been wanting to go to for a long time, attended the camps, went there when I was able to, and it’s always been a dream to just kind of put on for my city, so definitely grateful for the opportunity. Honestly, I went up in there, put the uniform on, looked in the mirror, and I’m just like, this is real. This is actually a dream come true. There’s nothing I can do but thank God, thank my dad, family for all the support. I wouldn’t have been there without any of them. Definitely go Dawgs.”

Burney says she went the JUCO route of high school to grow as a player and person and that hard work definitely pays off.
