Car enthusiasts celebrate 21 years of Scrapin the Coast
Scrapin the Coast is now in the books, but it left us with some memorable custom builds in the process.
Lifted trucks, mini trucks, low riders and more drew thousands of car enthusiasts from all over the country for the 21st annual Scrapin the Coast car show.
For some, it is the perfect opportunity to show off their custom builds. Paint Martian Motors Owner Jamar Gilmore said, “Being at Scrapin is one of the biggest shows to where I feel like if you get recognized at Scrapin, you’re really doing something. Everything with my truck is completely custom from top to bottom. My main focus on getting my truck was everybody does Chevy, everybody does Tundras. You really don’t see many Nissans.”
Battitude Car Owner Robert Arkwright says his truck was a fan favorite. “A lot of people like the old school stuff and they’re thanking me for bringing it out. I’m a painter so I painted it and put new tires on it, everything like that.”
Car audio systems were all the rage at Scrapin the Coast as guests lined up to get a taste of some high volume bass. Noisy Boy Labs Owner Joe Price said, “This van is actually the loudest non-extreme music build in the world.”
Martin Garcia of Street King Wheels and Tires has been coming to Scrapin the Coast for 15 years. It’s atmosphere that keeps bringing him back. “It’s definitely the culture. When it comes down to it, the culture and the people that they’re all into the same thing. Everybody comes together just because they love cars.”
