Christmas in the Country
It’s Christmas time in the city and in the country, too.
With a countdown from 10, the lights in the Woolmarket Park were turned on to signify the beginning of the Christmas holiday. Santa Claus even made an appearance riding in a fire truck. Hot chocolate and popcorn was served and “Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas” was played on the big screen. The event was free but guests were asked to bring one canned good for Loaves and Fishes.
Christmas in the Country is sponsored by the Harrison County Board of Supervisors. District 5 Supervisor President Connie Rockco said, “This is the second annual Christmas lighting of the park. It’s Christmas in the Country and it’s in Woolmarket, right off of Highway 67. It will be lit all during the Christmas season. We have a movie that we’re going to show, a Christmas movie.”
Tomorrow night, Christmas in the Country will continue in Saucier. The community will turn on the Christmas lights in the park next to the baseball fields. It will begin at 5:30 and end at 7:30. Entrance to the movie will be one canned good.
