Sinkhole repair at East Beach in Ocean Springs
An overnight sinkhole is being repaired in Ocean Springs.
Yesterday evening, Jackson County Road Manager Joel O’Neal received notice about a sinkhole forming at East Beach.
The sinkhole was caused by a hole in a drainage pipe that deposits rainfall runoff into the Sound.
Today, the Jackson County road team began repairing the damage to the pipe. Once that’s finished, they’ll be able to fill in the hole.
East Beach is still open to guests, but the road crew asks those using the beach to take caution and not go near the sinkhole until it is repaired.
