Inaugural Juneteenth Family Funday in Gulfport

A Juneteenth celebration took place in Gulfport on the lawn next to the Mississippi Aquarium.

The event is brought to you by JZ 94.5, Hancock Whitney, the aquarium, and the City of Gulfport.

They have come together to host the Inaugural Juneteenth Family Fun Day, celebrating freedom and community.

The event was a day filled with food, vendors, and activities for everyone to enjoy.

From tasty treats to local crafts, there was something for everyone.

Visitors learned about the historical significance of Juneteenth. This event aims to foster unity and celebrate the cultural heritage of the Gulfport community. WJZD Station Manager Amelia Cooper said, “JZ 94.5 is a black-owned business and we call ourselves the People’s Station. We not only want to entertain and inform, but we also want to empower as well.”
