Biloxi man accused of killing Waffle House waitress on trial

A Biloxi man is on trial this week for the 2015 killing of a Waffle House waitress.

Johnny Mount is accused of shooting Julie Brightwell. Mount allegedly shot Brightwell after she told Mount he couldn’t smoke his E-cigarette inside the restaurant.

Mount had been a firefighter with the City of Biloxi for 10 years before being hit by a car in 2002.

The accident caused him to suffer from a brain injury. Mount’s attorney is using an insanity defense as a result of the injury.
