Kids participate in Play Day at the Park in Gautier

Gautier’s Recreation Department hosted a family group play day at Bacot Park.

Kids and their parents participated in physical activities ranging from water balloon fights, spoon races, jump roping, shooting hoops, and pure laughter.

The event was a first of its kind for the department of recreation, geared towards giving kids a venue to interact with one another over the summer break.

Gautier native and Athletic Department Manager Latoya Raquel tells News 25 about the inspiration behind the play day. “To bridge back and bring the community back to Bacot Park. You know, there was a lot of events and things going on within the city when I was growing up, and I just want to see those things brought back to the city. So, with the summer being out, a lot of kids needing some things to do, we thought, hey, would it be a good idea to have a playgroup out here at the Bacot Park.”

Gautier plans to have more activities coming up this summer.
