Mississippi Power volunteers give back at Back Bay Mission
Mississippi Power employees are giving back to the community.
They gathered this morning at Back Bay Mission in Biloxi to roll up their sleeves, grab a paintbrush, and help refresh the walls of Back Bay’s administrative building.
By painting these walls, volunteers are allowing Back Bay Mission to save money so they can use it on services for the people who need it most, including those who are unsheltered and living in poverty.
Mississippi Power has also contributed to Back Bay financially. The company handed over a $50,000 grant earlier this year. Kaila Moran Griffith with Mississippi Power said, “Earlier this year Back Bay applied for a grant with the Mississippi Power Foundation and they were award $50,000 dollars and they were able to use those funds to renovate one of their centers and they’re also using that to help start off a mental health program here, and so we were so excited and our employees were so excited to get back to Back Bay and do a little extra work today.”
Back Bay Mission Executive Director James Pennington said, “This is the kind of stuff that’s kind of last on the list, so it means a lot because it brightens the space up, it provides, I don’t know, a better space for those that we serve to really be present.”
Mississippi Power leaders say they’re excited to continue serving Back Bay Mission.
