Waveland’s Michael Grimm hospitalized with unknown issue

America’s Got Talent winner Michael Grimm is in a Las Vegas hospital with an undisclosed medical issue.

In a video posted on Facebook by Grimm’s wife, Lucie, she said he had been having health issues before it came to a head on Memorial Day.

Grimm, originally from Hancock County, was put in ICU and initially was on a ventilator. He has improved in the week he has been there and the vent was removed, but he remains sedated.

Doctors are still trying to pinpoint the problem. He will need physical therapy and vocal cord repair from being on the ventilator.

Grimm’s shows are canceled for June and July to let him recuperate.

Grimm won America’s Got Talent in Season 5 — telling judges if he won the million dollar prize, he was going to build his grandparents, who raised him, a home in Waveland. Grimm made good on that promise.

Benefits are in the works to help the Grimms with their medical expenses.
