The burglars also stole plenty of jewelry, electronics and personal family items. The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department arrived to investigate the scene but they didn’t have to look too hard, the burglars left behind plenty of evidence, such as fingerprints and cigarettes lined with DNA. “They sent the dogs out here and the dogs found the scent all the way to the back of our woods over to another house and come to find out that house had been broken in a week ahead,” said Burrus.
Burrus tells News 25, although she’s heartbroken most of her prized possessions are gone, she’s happy to have all of her loved ones unharmed. “I have a daughter that’s 17-years-old. She usually comes home at 1 o’clock and she was not here. So, I’m thankful for that because she would’ve been here when they came and that would’ve been a bad situation.”
The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department tells News 25 no arrests have been made just yet.
