M.D.O.T.’s D’Iberville I-10/I-110 Construction is on Track

The D’Iberville I-10/I-110 overpass project is ahead of schedule, and motorists are starting to see real progress at the construction site. The support beams for the overpass are going up, and the Mississippi Department of Transportation (M.D.O.T.) is using some new, progressive ideas to streamline the public’s driving experience.

The overpass will be a diverging diamond interchange, which is a new idea being used across the country to improve efficiency and minimize driver confusion. Drivers heading north will now cross over I-10 on the left side of the road for seamless exiting, before crossing back to the right to continue northward. M.D.O.T. knows the construction has been an inconvenience to residents, but says the finished product will be worth the wait.

Michael Harter says, "Well obviously as with any highway improvement project, especially one of this magnitude, there are going to be some inconveniences during construction, but they are just temporary. When this is said and done, the travelling public is going to have a lot more options in and around the city of D’Iberville where there was none before."

The project is expected to be completed during the fall of 2015, and M.D.O.T. reminds drivers to be aware of workers in construction zones.
