Harrison County Law Enforcement Training Academy named in honor of Sheriff Troy Peterson

The brand-new facility for future law enforcement officers is up and running in Harrison County.

The Harrison County Law Enforcement Training Academy, located near the county farm on James Bond Road, is a full-service center offering basic certifications and advanced courses in communication, corrections, and law enforcement.

The academy has classrooms, office space, barracks, and a driving track outside. The brand-new facility will be available to police and sheriff’s departments from across the state.

Because of Sheriff Troy Peterson’s hard work and dedication to bring this academy to life, the board of supervisors have chosen to name the facility after him. District 3 Supervisor Marlin Ladner said, “The board of supervisors recognize that the tremendous contributions Sheriff Peterson made in accessing those grants to build the training facility, and I think we decided it would be nice to name that facility after him since he was, as I said, instrumental in getting that facility built.”

The ribbon cutting for the training academy will be April 20th.
