The Mississippi Gaming Commission approved a proposal today for a planned new casino in Hancock County.

Site approval for the planned south beach casino and resort was discussed at the commission’s morning meeting.

It was a unanimous decision by Commissioners Tom Gresham and Francis Lee.

The site is located along South Beach Boulevard in the Clermont Harbor area between Buccaneer State Park and the Silver Slipper.

The casino will be around 40,000 square feet, more than 1,000 slot machines, and 25 table games.

This is just the first step in the development process. The next step requires developers to show that they have the funding to complete the casino.
