De L’Epee Deaf Center hosts yard sale for deaf camp
The De L’Epee Deaf Center’s annual yard sale is coming Saturday in Gulfport.
This center provides care to those who are deaf or hard of hearing through programs that teach sign language and deaf camps for children.
Each year, the center has a yard sale to help fund these camps. You can find anything from clothes and toys to vintage records.
Everything sold in the yard sale is donated and your donations could help send a child to deaf camp.
Sign Language Interpreter Erica Ables says deaf camp lets deaf children be confident. “So, it brings them together and lets them know ‘Hey, I’m not the only one like this.’ There are other people that speak my language, being sign language. There are other people that can’t hear maybe as well. And it kind of gives them a community to come to.”
If you would like to donate items to the yard sale, drop offs are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1450 North Street in Gulfport until Friday, March 24th.
If you’re interested in buying, the yard sale is March 25th from 7 a.m. to noon.
