Blood Center hosts blood drive at Pearl River Community College Hancock Center

The Blood Center hosted a blood drive at Pearl River Community College in Waveland to collect some much needed supply.

The Blood Center collects 60 to 70,000 units of blood every year for the Mississippi Gulf Coast, a quarter of a million lives have been helped by donors.

The college has a blood drive every spring and every fall to try to help the Blood Center collect as much blood as they can, especially now through a national shortage.

Some students and faculty along with the Waveland community were seen on the bus giving blood or lined up at the door to wait their turn. Student Jacob Perry said, “It’s a good idea to give blood because someone might need it and its for a good cause. If I’m giving, maybe my classmates will and I’m going to try to get some of my friends to do it. I feel like I helped somebody and makes me feel good inside.”

The Blood Center will be having another blood drive Saturday, March 25th at the Best Western Seaway Inn from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Gulfport.
