St. Stanislaus alum Jacob Lindgren retires from professional baseball

St. Stanislaus alum Jacob Lindgren announced his retirement from professional baseball almost 13 years after leading the Rock-A-Chaws to the 4A state championship in 2010.

The one they call ‘the strikeout factory’ went on to sign with Mississippi State, where he played in the College World Series championship in 2013 before being drafted in the second round by the New York Yankees in 2014.

Multiple Tommy John surgeries limited him to just seven major league innings before spending time with the Atlanta Braves and Chicago White Sox organizations.

In 2021, SSC retired Lindgren’s number 19 jersey which now hangs on permanent display in left field.

In 2010, he became the highest drafted player out of high school in the history of Hancock County.
