MDEQ Hosts Public Comment Forum

Tonight the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality hosted an open forum at the USM Gulf Park campus.
The forum was to present two proposed documents to the public. One was an agreement for BP to fund restoration of the Gulf and the other is a new restoration plan for the Gulf. Once approved, Mississippi will get $2.17 billion from BP and the public could leave a comment on how they wanted the money to be used.
MDEQ hopes to use it to improve water quality, restore coastal and marine habitats and restore oyster, bird, shellfish, shrimp and crab life on the Coast.
