Deadly crash on Highway 90 in Gulfport
One person is dead following a single-car crash in Gulfport.
According to nearby resident and witness Tammy Farris, she was weeding her front yard when she says she heard a screech.
She says the car was driving west down Highway 90 when the car allegedly hit the wall in front of her house and flipped, slamming into the median.
Farris says she went to help the driver, who was allegedly already dead.
Farris and her husband said that the curve in front of Oak Street has caused five accidents in about a year with one of them occurring this past Saturday.
She says she is hoping something is done soon to help prevent more accidents in the future taking lives of drivers and potentially other pedestrians. “It is very frustrating because it’s not so much us; it’s the fact that people walk on this sidewalk. You have elderly from the neighborhood behind us. We have people here visiting as tourists. There are people that go by walking their dog, walking their kids to go to the beach. Any one of these accidents would’ve killed anybody on that sidewalk, and I mean that’s a scary thought.”
The crash caused a road closure on Highway 90 going west for several hours to clean up the wreckage.
