Hispanic American Heritage Celebration

A local school crossed national lines in the classroom this morning to celebrate Hispanic American Heritage Month.
There’s even more to celebrate this year since the Gulfport School District has seen an increase in Hispanic students over the past few years. Students ate nachos, listened to Spanish music, watched some traditional dancing and even had the chance to sing along.
Principal Simone Fairley said, “We thought it would be a good idea because our Hispanic community has grown over the last couple of years. We wanted them to know that we appreciate them and all of their contributions.”
The decorations for the celebration at Pass Road Elementary were provided by El Agave Mexican Restaurant.
