No truth found in alleged dog abuse in Hancock County
Hancock County officials say there is no truth to a woman’s claim that her dogs were mistreated and abused by a neighbor in the Kiln.
The woman’s six dogs were taken by Animal Control as well as three others owned by the neighbor after responding to a complaint January 21st about a neighbor abusing the animals.
Animal Control officers testified at a hearing on Tuesday that the dogs were living in deplorable conditions with no access to food or water.
At the time, the woman claimed that her neighbor had sexually assaulted the female dogs and abused a male dog of hers.
Sheriff Ricky Adam tells WXXV that investigators found no truth to her claims.
Judge Eric Moran denied her request to get the animals back, saying she had nowhere to live and had no way to adequately care for the dogs.
After a 30-day waiting period, the dogs will be available for adoption at the Hancock County Animal Shelter.
