Man struck and killed by train in Ocean Springs identified

A man was struck and killed Thursday morning by a train in Ocean Springs.

The victim has been identified as 57-year-old Dale A. Hammond of Ocean Springs.

Police responded to the railroad tracks near Cherokee Glenn where the incident happened.

According to witnesses, he was walking westbound on the railroad tracks and did not respond to the train’s warning of its approach.

The train entered emergency mode and came to a stop after fatally striking the victim.

The Ocean Springs Police Department and CSX are continuing to investigate this information.
