Gulfport Police arrest suspect in drive-by shooting

Gulfport Police said a suspect they were searching for in connection to a drive-by shooting that occurred Tuesday morning has been located and arrested.

In a press release, police said that on December 8, at approximately 11:18 a.m., officers responded to the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Highway 49 in reference to a drive-by shooting.

Through the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Dequman Marshea Cooper discharged a firearm several times from his vehicle toward two subjects, the press release said. After issuing a press release saying that the suspect was being sought, police sent an update about an hour later saying Cooper had been arrested.

Cooper also has outstanding warrants for a drive-by shooting from a previous case in November 2020.
