11/12 – Brantly’s “Warm and Sunny” Thursday Forecast

The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Eta made landfall near Cedar Key on the West Coast of Florida at 3:00 AM. Northerly to northwesterly surface wind flow continues across our local area early this morning well to the west of Eta and also as surface high pressure is building into the region behind a cold front that was oriented just to the northwest of our area early this morning. Satellite imagery shows a thin mid and upper level clouds spilling across our area early this morning.

A dry weather pattern looks to prevail across the north central Gulf Coast region through Friday as a deep layer dry airmass spreads overhead. A drier airmass at the surface will also move into our region today along building high pressure behind the passing frontal boundary. Surface dewpoints should fall into the mid 50s to around 60 degrees over much of our region by late this afternoon. A few clouds may linger around the region into the mid-morning hours, but should break apart later this morning with plenty of sunshine by this afternoon. North-northwest surface flow along with the dry airmass should actually promote another warm day behind the passing front, and we expect highs to range in the mid to upper 70s over South Mississippi.
