Blood Drive by loved ones of Cecilia Shaffette takes place tomorrow
A crucial drive is underway to recruit blood donations in South Mississippi.
The need for blood is at an all-time high, but much needed donations have been by restrictions on traditional blood drives often held at schools, churches, and other groups due to COVID-19.
Tomorrow, South Mississippians in good health are asked to come out for a blood drive in Biloxi, set for 2 to 8 p.m. at the Joppa Shriners Temple.
COVID is not the only hinderance to blood drive collections this year. Blood drive organizer Kristian Alfonso said, “This is a big blood drive because a lot of blood donations have been cancelled due to Hurricane Zeta.”
The blood drive will be held tomorrow from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Joppa Shriners Temple located at 13280 Shriners Boulevard in Biloxi.
It’s being held in honor of a local girl, Cecilia Shaffette, whose life has been saved as she’s struggled with liver malfunction, thanks to those who have donated blood.
Oschner will provide free t-shirts and COVID antibody testing for those who donate blood tomorrow.
