Saints Linebacker DeMario Davis’ mother speaks out on overcoming adversity

In a year that has changed so many lives so quickly, Saints linebacker Demario Davis and his mother Sue Magee have teamed up to help empower young women through their 2020 Go on Girls Conference.

The conference, which is now virtual, will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A variety of speakers will be featured to talk about the conference’s theme of overcoming mental and emotional adversity.

Young women of all ages are encouraged to participate in this free virtual event. Throughout the conference, participants will be divided into breakout sessions based on age to get more personal help on age specific strategies to overcome adversity.

Magee tells News 25 what inspired her to organize the Go on Girls Conference. “I felt I needed a mentor when I was growing up. I felt like I needed a place where I can come and learn some things and get some tools and help me with the struggle through my teenage years. And the older I got the more pressing it was on my heart to be able to do this and be what I needed for someone else. So, I just jumped out there, got a little training, started the group and still continue to learn today. The thing that makes me passionate about it are the young ladies. What I get from them, makes me be able to give back.”

You can still register for the event by going to devoteddreamers.org and clicking on the register link on the front page.
