Old Biloxi Cemetery Tour goes virtual
Another local event has been forced to go virtual due to COVID-19. Biloxi’s annual Cemetery Tour will be represented to the public via an online platform this year.
The event normally takes place the last Tuesday and Sunday of October and features graveside performances by local actors of the history of those that lay in the cemetery.
Each year, the tour is given a theme. This year, the public was asked to submit ideas for the portrayal of their own family histories for the theme ‘family legends and lore 2.’
Despite this event being held around Halloween, the cemetery tour is more of a historical event than a spooky one. Old Biloxi Cemetery Tour Director Laurie Rosetti said, “You have to know who you are and where you come from. And for local native Biloxians, it’s a look into our past, into their history, into their family’s history. for visitors and for people who have just moved to the area, it’s a way to get to know the area.”
The tour will premiere on B-TV, Biloxi’s municipal TV channel on Tuesday, October 27th at 7 p.m. and will be available through the month of November.
