Harrison Central Boys Basketball Carlous Williams commits to South Carolina
Yesterday, Harrison Central Forward Carlous Williams announced he will be calling Columbia, South Carolina his new home for the next four years.
The 6’6”, 238 pound senior committed to play basketball at the University of South Carolina just less than a month after he was offered by the Gamecocks.
Williams turned down offers from schools including LSU, Mississippi State, Southern Miss, and Baylor to suit up in the garnet and black.
News 25 caught up with Williams today to talk about what his family thinks about his commitment, what impact his decision may have on the Red Rebels this season, and why Williams chose to make his big announcement on August 26th. “They were kinda pushing for me to leave state, but they were like if I do stay make sure it’s where I want to go and it’s not just me staying here for them. So they was like, but wherever you go is going to be for your best interest and not for us, so just choose where you want to go. I know since I committed there’s going to be like a huge target on my back and my team’s back, so it’s just like we got to focus on getting the wins and winning the state championship. I just figured since my birthday was coming up, just to do it on my birthday as a birthday gift for me from me.”
Williams credits Harrison Central’s coaches and trainers for helping develop his game since his freshman year at HC.
