Dustin Gray, Erica Gray extradited to Pearl River County to face charges in connection to murder of Willie Jones

POPLARVILLE, Miss. (WXXV) — Two people wanted in connection to the murder of 28-year-old Willie Jones are back in South Mississippi.

Dustin Gray, 24, and wife, Erica Gray, 21, are now jailed in the Pearl River County Detention Facility after being arrested in Pueblo, Colorado on July 15.

Initially arrested for possession of stolen firearms, Dustin and Erica were also persons of interest at that time in the disappearance of Willie Jones.

On July 17, detectives with the Picayune Police Department along with investigators from the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office traveled to Colorado to interview the married couple.

That same day, the remains of Willie Jones were found in wooded area off of Texas Flat Road.

Later that day, information gathered by investigators led to the identification of another suspect, 18-year-old Austin Brookshire, Dustin’s half-brother. Brookshire was taken into custody and has been charged with murder.

On July 21, Dustin was arrested on a warrant for first degree murder in relation to the death of Willie Jones. Erica was arrested for accessory after the fact of murder.

Dustin and Erica were flown by private plane into Picayune from Colorado on Sunday. Both appeared in court on Monday and were denied bail.
