Jackson Public Schools backtracks on football cancellation report

Contrary to previous reports yesterday, Jackson Public Schools has released a statement denying the cancellation of the 2020 football season, among other fall sports.

Multiple reports cited coaches receiving phone calls regarding the canceled season, but late last night JPS said it was still reviewing the “potential options, safety guidelines, and recommendations from local and state health officials.”

If the season is to be canceled, seven MHSAA schools will be affected, presumably leading to a mass exodus of players transferring to neighboring programs for the chance to play.
