New state flag committee to meet Wednesday
A nine person committee designing the new Mississippi state flag will meet for the first time this Wednesday.
The committee consists of three members each appointed from state leaders Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann, House Speaker Philip Gunn, and Governor Tate Reeves.
Governor Reeves has yet to appoint his three members, commenting on it saying he is focusing on the pandemic.
Legislators voted in June to retire the 126 year old Mississippi banner. The requirements for the new flag must not include the Confederate emblem and must read the words “In God we Trust.”
