COVID-19: 489 new cases, 23 new deaths statewide

The Mississippi State Department of Health reported 489 new cases of COVID-19 in the state and 23 new deaths.

However, 16 of those new deaths are from between May 23rd and June 11th, including one in Hancock County and one in Pearl River County.

That also includes 26 new cases reported within our six southern counties. The state wide total stands at 20,641 cases and 938 deaths.

In our area:

  • Hancock County reported no new cases. They still stand at 100 cases and now 13 deaths.
  • Harrison County reported 16 new cases, now at 393 cases and seven deaths.
  • Jackson County reported seven new cases. They’re currently at 385 cases and 16 deaths.
  • Stone County has one new case, now at 35 cases and one death.
  • George County has one new case, now at 41 cases and two deaths.
  • Pearl River County has one new case at 224 cases and now 32 deaths.

MSDH reports 15,323 people have presumably recovered from the virus.
