Good Samaritan saves couple from house fire
Two Harrison County residents were able to escape from their burning home, thanks to a Good Samaritan.
Harrison County Fire Chief Pat Sullivan said a person driving by the manufactured home on Lizana School Road saw the fire. The person stopped and alerted the sleeping couple, who were able to get out safely.
Sullivan urged residents to make sure working smoke detectors are in the home.
“This was a close call for the residents, who could have died in the fire, had they not been awoken by a person driving by. The home did not have working smoke alarms, and we strongly encourage every home to have working smoke alarms in their homes to give early warning.”
Sullivan said one person had burns and was treated and released on the scene.
Harrison County Fire Rescue had crews on the scene of the fire within minutes and were able to keep the fire contained.
