Mississippi State’s Jordan Westburg drafted by Baltimore Orioles

In any other major league draft, Mississippi State shortstop Jordan Westburg might have been a first round pick, but because the Houston Astros didn’t have a first round pick this year, he’s the first pick of competitive balance round ‘A.’

Number 30 overall to the Baltimore Orioles who come away with the fifth ranked shortstop in this year’s class and the 37th best player overall according to MLB Pipeline.

The other end of the best double play combination in all of college baseball, Westburg tied a College World Series single-game record in 2018 with seven RBI.

His slot value is well over $2 million.
