Bill Matthews remembered as coach of Pascagoula’s 1987 state championship team

Bill Matthews, who coached Pascagoula and led them to state championship in 1987, died Friday morning after a long illness.

He was 77.

Matthews coached Pascagoula from 1986 to 1996, with future NFL pros Terrell Buckley as well as his son.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
