Back behind bars: Escaped inmate in Gulfport recaptured overnight
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) — One prisoner is behind bars… again.
After just a few hours on the lam, law enforcement recaptured an inmate that escaped from a work release center in Harrison County overnight.
Authorities say 27-year-old Christopher Epps left the Harrison County Community Work Center off of 8th Avenue in Gulfport just after 8 p.m. Tuesday night.
He was recaptured just before midnight, according to the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Epps is serving an 18-year sentence for grand larceny and burglary larceny of unoccupied dwelling in Hinds County.
Gulfport Police and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department also assisted in the search.
