Moss Point Girls Basketball advances to first State Title Game in school history
If there was ever an example of big time players making big time plays in big time games, it would be Robyn Lee’s 31 point performance on Friday.
The Moss Point senior scored a career high for points in a win, willing her Lady Tigers to a 43-28 victory over McComb in the 4A quarterfinals.
Now onto the Final Four in consecutive seasons, what would the Louisiana Tech signee and her Tigers do for an encore?
4A semi-finals, Moss Point taking on Pontotoc at the Big House. Moss Point wins 42-39. Head Coach Ethan Porter said, “It was funny. One of my friends was at the game, another coach, videoed me after the game and he said man, you look more relieved than happy. And I think that’s kind of just how I felt at that moment, just relieved that we pulled it out. I don’t think it’s hit me yet, and I don’t think it will until the season is completely over. But I just know how hard these girls work and how hard they want it and how much I want it. It was just relief to get to this last game of the season right here. It is special. It’s almost surreal. And I know I couldn’t have done it with any other group of kids.”
Moss Point will face Ripley for the 4A championship at 5 P.M. Thursday from the Pavilion at Ole Miss. This will be Moss Point’s first state title game appearance in school history.
Three other Coast teams still in the running for a gold ball and Harrison Central is responsible for two of them.
The Red Rebelettes will take on Olive Branch at 4 p.m. Wednesday with the Red Rebels to follow against Starkville at 7 p.m.
Last but not least, Biloxi squaring off with Jackson-Murrah in the 8:30 night cap. All games at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.
