Political Forum Featuring Women Politicians Took Place Today

The August 4th primaries for local elections are approaching. Some incumbents will seek re-election while others are looking to get their names and platforms out.
It’s the women candidates, and women’s issues, that are taking center stage at a women’s political forum in Biloxi tonight. Hosted by the Lighthouse BPW, nine political women along the Coast answered questions on the challenges faced in a male dominated profession. Among those to speak were Mayor Connie Moran and Harrison County Supervisor Board President Connie Rockco.
Kearn Cherry, Lighthouse BPW president, said, “We need to have a voice in some of the decisions that are being made in our county and this is a format for women that may not have thought about running for office, watching and listening to some of these women, they may consider it in the future.”
Our very own Toni Mile was moderator of the forum. The women were given one minute to answer each question. Representative Sonya Barns and Councilman Dixie Newman were also in attendance.
