Jackson County Recreation offering youth fishing classes in October

Jackson County Recreation will be hosting youth fishing classes in Pascagoula next month.

The classes are open to girls and boys who are new to fishing and range from seven to 12 years-old.

Classes are happening on October 15th, 22nd, and 29th, and will end with a graduation and class fishing rodeo November 5th.

Loaner equipment will be available and bait is provided at no charge.

The class will be led by instructor JL McNew. Outdoor Recreation Specialist for Jackson County Barb Medlock said, “He teaches responsible fishing. We teach leave no trace. We teach how important it is to pick up your fishing line and to pick up your bait once you’re through. But just good solid fishing techniques and how to read the water. Are the fish biting today? Where are the fish? These types of things.”

To register, you can call Jackson County Recreation at 228-826-5330.
