Mississippi Aquarium hosts students for Homeschool Days

It’s been a busy day at the Mississippi Aquarium. They had more than 100 students attend their home school days program, the largest one yet.

Each month, homeschool days takes place to give students pre-K through 12 a chance to explore and participate in hands-on educational activities.

This month’s topic was ocean zones. Students were able to explore the layers of the ocean and learn about the diversity of life in each ocean zone, the adaptations for each layer, and how researchers study the depths.

Worksheets and supplemental materials helped guide students through the activity. Mississippi Aquarium Lead Educator McKenzi Turpin said, “Homeschool Days are very important. Within our three pillars, we really like to focus on education, community, and conservation and by having these homeschool days we can really focus on the education portion and help students learn more about conservation especially here on the Gulf Coast, we have the water right out there.”

You can purchase tickets now for next month’s Homeschool Days. Advanced tickets for students and adults are $17.50. Day of tickets for students are $24.95 and $29.95 for adults.
