9/11 – Brittany’s “Approaching Cold Front” Sunday Evening Forecast

The main headline for the short term is a front is actually coming to the Central Gulf Coast! This cold front is currently located upstream of the region across east-central TX, stretching northeastward ArkLaTex and the central MS River Valley. The boundary is marked by a decent temperature and dewpoint gradient (upper 80s/lower 90s temperatures and lower 70s dewpoints ahead of the front and upper 70s/lower 80s temperatures and 50s and lower 60s dewpoints behind it).

On Monday, the aforementioned cold front will slow down and dissipate as it moves southward across the forecast area. The boundary may not reach the SE LA coast until late Monday night. Similar to today, poorly organized showers and storms should develop along the front during the afternoon and evening hours.

For the first time in what seems like forever, we are looking at a 3-day stretch of dry weather for the majority of the forecast area Tuesday through Thursday thanks to a broad surface ridge over the eastern half of the CONUS.
