New bait and tackle shop opens in Gulfport

Fishing is a major industry along the Mississippi Coast. A new shop hopes to attract sportsmen of all backgrounds.

Wicked Fish Bait and Tackle opened its doors for the first time this morning at its location on Highway 49 in Gulfport.

From reels and rods to traps and bait, owner Mike Wright says catering to professional fishermen along with recreational reelers can play an important role in helping the industry grow on the Coast in 2020 and beyond. “It’s a big industry here. There are a lot of boat captains here that do charters and I was just speaking with one a minute ago to get some ideas of what types of things they look for.”

Wicked Fish is currently open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
