Memorial Hospital in Gulfport ranked number three hospital in Mississippi

Memorial Hospital in Gulfport has been recognized as a 2022-2023 Best Hospital in Mississippi by U.S. News and World Report, ranking first in coastal Mississippi and number three in the state.

In addition, Memorial is rated as high performing in eight procedures or conditions, including heart attack, heart failure, diabetes, colon cancer surgery, kidney failure, back surgery-spinal fusion, stroke, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

For the 2022-2023 rankings and ratings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions.

U.S. News evaluated each hospital’s performance using a variety of measures such as survival rates, complication rates, patient experience, and level of nursing care. Memorial Health System Chief Physician Executive Michael Wiederhuld said, “Us being labeled number three in the state is definitely an honor and then being the top one in coastal Mississippi. It’s just really great to work here and we are extremely proud of the physicians, the nurses and the caregivers that are committed to providing exceptional care right here close to home.”

The annual best hospitals rankings and ratings are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive quality care for health conditions or procedures.
