Ocean Springs Library closing for planned renovation

The Ocean Springs Library is getting a much-needed facelift.

Starting September 10th, the Ocean Springs Library will be closed for a planned library makeover and renovation.

The project is supported by the City of Ocean Springs and funded by the Jackson County Board of Supervisors at a cost of $1.63 million.

Renovations include replacing the roof, new heating and air systems, LED lighting, paint, carpeting, tile, and a family bathroom. Ocean Springs Library Branch Manager Yvonne Parton said, “I think it’s going to be exciting for staff, a nicer environment to work in, but I think it’s going to be very exciting for the patrons because they’ve seen what we’ve been going through in regards to the leaks in the roof, you know that’s the kind of thing that happens with old buildings. So, I think they’ll be excited to come into a brand-new building with nice changes, and a nicer environment.”

While the Ocean Springs library is closed, they suggest patrons visit the St. Martin Public Library next to the community center.
