100 Men Hall in Bay St. Louis preparing for third annual Booker Fest
This Friday, the 100 Men Hall will host the third annual Booker Fest to celebrate the musical genius of James Booker.
James Booker was a New Orleans rhythm and blues keyboardist born in New Orleans and raised by an aunt in Bay St. Louis where he attended St. Rose De Lima and learned classical piano.
To honor his unique style, a three-day festival will take place where guests can enjoy food, music, and comedy.
Attendees will also be able to purchase Booker Fest merch and signed, limited edition posters. 100 Men Hall Director Rachel Dangermond. “It’s our amazing fundraiser that supports the maintenance of this 100-year-old African American landmark on the Coast. So, like I said, we start with Joe Krown Trio Friday at 7. Saturday is a full day. We have St. Rose Gospel choir. We are than going to have a tribute to James Booker who was this brilliant pianist.”
Booker Fest will kick off Friday, September 2nd at 7 p.m. at the 100 Men Hall in Bay St. Louis. Tickets range from $30 to $85.
