Projects to be considered for BP Oil Spill funds
More than $85 million in South Mississippi projects are on the table to receive BP Oil Spill settlement funding.
In all, the Gulf Coast Restoration Fund Advisory Board has selected 14 out of 119 projects for state legislators to consider for funding on the Gulf Coast when the legislative session reconvenes early next year.
Among those slated to be presented are expansion and preparation at the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport, restoration of Biloxi’s Saenger Theatre, and funding for the development of a creative complex at the Walter Anderson Museum of Art in Ocean Springs. Each project is required to have at least a 20 percent match of the funding requested.
The legislature will have the final say on which projects will receive funding and just how much money they’ll get.
