9th Annual Old Biloxi Cemetery Tour
Coast legends rose from the grave in Biloxi tonight. It was all part of the ninth annual Old Biloxi Cemetery Tour.
This year’s theme was “Building Biloxi.” There were nine different stops throughout the cemetery on the tour. Each stop featured a reenactment of a dead Coast legend who helped shape Biloxi in to what it is today.
Bill Raymond, historic administrator, says nearly 2,000 people stopped by to hear about the town’s history. “We have contractors, we have architects, teachers. We have all the people that helped make Biloxi what it is today. We have reenactments of their lives and telling their story and in some cases, we even have family members of those people they’re portraying actually doing the portraying for us.”
The tour was free to the public but donations were accepted. Sponsors used the donations for repairing and replacing old headstones within the cemetery.
