92-year-old Vet Runs Cross Country
If you need motivation to run that extra mile at the gym, we have some motivation for you.
A 92-year-old veteran is running cross country to raise money to reserve a World War II vessel that he helped bring back from Greece. So far, Mr. Ernie Andrus has trekked about 2,000 miles, starting off in San Diego, California back in October of 2013. He has made it to the Coast. He started his run at 7:30 a.m. in Bay St. Louis with a crowd of supporters behind him.
Andrus hopes to finish his travels on August 20th of this year, one day after his 93rd birthday. “Nobody 90 years old has ever done it, so I though, I just decided to do it. You know, it sounded like it would be fun and a nice adventure. I got so much attention running when I ran 200 mile relays because of my age. So, I thought, well if a 90-year-old man would run Coast to Coast, maybe I can raise some money for our ship,” said Andrus.
