9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at Keesler Air Force Base
Sixteen years may sound like a long time, but for many the 9/11 terrorist attack still feels like yesterday.
Sailors stationed at the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit held a ceremony this morning at Keesler Air Force Base. Seven tags with names of people connected to Mississippi who lost their lives during the terrorist attack were placed on a wreath.
Organizers of the ceremony tell News 25 how this ceremony hits home. United States Navy AG1 Roxanne Cuttill said, “We had two personally that were involved in our job field as aerographers, AG2 Flacco and AG1 Earhart. Their lives were lost when the plane struck the Pentagon.”
Military Training Leader School Instructor Supervisor Joshua Anderson said, “Sixteen years does seem kind of long. It seems like yesterday to those of us that saw it and it’s still close in memory and in heart.”
Nearly 3,000 lives were lost and over 6,000 injured from the terrorist attack on September 11th, 2001.
