UPDATE: Suspect in hit-and-run of 9-year-old in custody

Biloxi Police say a suspect who hit a 9-year-old boy who was trying to cross Highway 90 near Porter Avenue on Monday morning has been arrested.

Brianna Chevalier, 27, of Biloxi, turned herself in to Biloxi Police on Monday afternoon.

Chevalier was charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing serious bodily injury. She was taken to Harrison County jail. Her bond was set at $100,000.

Police said the incident happened just before 10 a.m.. The boy was airlifted to the USA Medical Center in Mobile with what was described as severe road rash.

Police were able to find the vehicle, an orange and black Chevy Camaro involved in the hit and run. The suspect was identified and taken into custody about 1 p.m., according to Capt. Milton Houseman.


This Camaro was involved in a hit-and-run in Biloxi on Monday.
