9/27 – Brittany’s “Pleasant” Tuesday Evening Forecast

Tonight through the rest of the week… Drier and cooler temperatures are here, and Fall-like feeling is in the air! No rainfall is expected for the next few days. And while the tropical system in the Caribbean (Ian) is still expected to track toward the tip of Florida, per NHC, we will be expecting some smaller impacts for our area over the next few days, as a result. Strong northerly flow will be in place over the region for the next few days.

The strong northerly flow will cause some breezy conditions in our area. Winds will be approaching 25 miles per hour, mainly in the coastal areas, with higher gusts tonight into tomorrow. A Wind Advisory is in effect from 03Z tonight through 03Z Thursday, as a result. With breezy conditions the next few days, people will need to be cautious when driving and secure any loose items. The dry weather may feel nice, but unfortunately, we will still have a concern for fire weather conditions tomorrow and Thursday. Relative humidities will be between 25-30 percent during the daytime hours Wednesday and Thursday with pockets of lower percentages.

This dry environment combined with the gusty winds and abundance of fuels means that fire weather will be a concern over the next few days. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for tomorrow and a Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Thursday. People need to be cautious when parking on grass and using cigarettes. Additionally, people need to restrict any planned burns over the next few days.
